The design of the interior at Onslow Gardens was based upon a new fireplace and a single intervention that would contain client requested separate his and hers bathroom within a one bedroom flat. The intention was to create theatrical piece, a bespoke jewelry box, that had a strong and separate identity to the existing Grade 2 listed interior.

The design of the fireplace depended upon a cantilevered flue introduced to create a simple elevation, to distract the eye from its symmetrical placement and to  give more balance to the room.

The installation was to be made using CNC cut and laquered MDF panels, fixed to a timber frame with inset handles and flush shelves and drawers.

A conceptual study and historic investigation were both carried out to inform the work.
